Now that I've experienced ages 1, 2 and 3, it's become crystal clear to me that with every age comes some amazing achievements and some drive-me-to-drink new challenges. For example, I will never forget when my son took his first steps. It was something we couldn't wait to experience and the moment was as exciting as everyone tells you it is.. But before you know it, those walkers become runners, into busy streets and parking lots, and you yearn for the days where you could put your kid down on a blanket with a chew toy and call it a day.
Then there's the talking. You can't WAIT until your baby can actually communicate with you using something other than a whine or a cry. But once they start talking, well, they don't stop. And it's often at full volume in the car or when you're out to eat. And it's rarely poetic :)
