Parenthood comes with a layer of grime. As I was cleaning up the kitchen last night I couldn't help but notice that everything in my life feels sticky right now. Nothing is safe from the stick, but there are a few special spots that really take the cake.
The Chairs. Our kitchen chairs serve as more of a climbing structure than a place to sit and enjoy a home cooked meal, which means by the end of dinner they are covered in spilled milk and food residue from dirty fingers. To any new or expecting mom that may have fabric covered kitchen chairs, run to Ikea NOW and get yourself something cheap and durable. You'll thank me later.
The Kitchen Floor: The 4ft x 1ft area of floor directly under my kids' highchair and chair should NOT be visited barefoot. You would think that having a dog who loves to devour dropped food would solve this problem, but nope. The dog slobber just adds to the stick.
The Car: I'm not just talking about the area in or around the car seats. Somehow the grime creeps up to the front seat, the steering wheel, the dashboard. Shits got legs!
So tell me wise mamas, how do you deal with the grime? 10,000 baby wipes (guilty)? A thorough clean every night (yeah RIIIIGHT!) or do you just look the other way and hope the mounds of toys surrounding the grime distracts people from seeing the truth.
